Thirty OAs representing both the Western Slope and Front Range of OA enjoyed balance in recovery in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable, the lovely Sunlight Mountain Inn 9 miles above Glenwood Springs.
We enjoyed great speakers and shared our deepest experience, hope and strength in recovery with all present.
If you attended please leave your favorite impressions, memories and lessons learned in the comments below.

I had such a wonderful time in an absolutely beautiful setting. I learn so much when I immerse myself in the recovery of others in program and I am always so blown away by the generosity of my fellow OAs. Thank you to all who participated, to all who enriched my life and recovery that much more.
Hi Tom, Your talk was magical for me. I have never known a man who held in his stomach most of his life. Hearing a man's side of the disease was eye-opening. We all got a lot from your talk. Also, your wife added good things by being there.
In your talk you mentioined perhaps a Western Slope rep. to Reg. III. I am interested and think I am qualified. I looked at the form. What would I do next?
With respect, Georgie (bad, good twin, I'm s_ _ _ and I know it.
This retreat was magical! No cell phones, no TV’s and no computers. It was just what the doctor ordered. Life can be so busy with little time to reflect and enjoy the amazing fellowship that we have in OA. It’s so important for myself to take the time, slow down and be in recovery and fellowship. It helps me remember that my recovery is dependant on self care and working the 12 steps, with a trusted sponsor. Thank you all for making this retreat happen. May the sunlight of the spirit be with us all!
The gift of hearing and seeing “Balance in Recovery” among all those who attended this retreat keeps coming back to help me as life returns to “normal” here in GJ. Six of us continued the retreat at Juicy Lucy’s in Glenwood on the way home sharing things we heard that affected us. After Tom’s sharing, I was brave enough to put YES to sponsoring when signing in at Monday nights meeting!! I was wishing I had taken Monday off work also to just let all I saw and felt absorb deep in me. Thank you to everyone for attending and fully participating. God Bless.
This was my first Colorado OA retreat. It was really really special. I got the opportunity to step away from my family to get clarity about my life which was very helpful. I also got to get connected to many people I have never met before. On top of that, I made a connection with someone that I would see at my regular meetings, but didn’t really have time to get to know until this retreat. I am completely grateful for everything and I am especially grateful to all the contributors to this retreat that made it possible. They did AMAZING things that made the retreat soooo great! They gave of their time and talents and wow did their talents shine through. One thing that really stands out in my mind is the beautifully decorated tool boxes someone made for each person in the group. We all have a contribution to make to the world and she definitely listened to God’s calling for her! Thank you to EVERYONE and I definitely home to come next year.
What a great experience. Thanks to all who participated whether it was by presenting a workshop or by attending. You all are amazing and I learned so much. Luckily I had taken Monday off from work, so I had an extra day to absorb everything. One weakness I have that really isn’t bad – I’m a retreat junkie. Love ‘em. Always remember — “Together we get better”!
WOW! What a wonderful healing retreat for me. I had a chance to get refocused on my recovery and open to the idea of exploring my food plan options. The members that attended represented the full range of OA recovery. From Newcomer to another with 30+ years. The concept of living life and my recovery in balance was brought home with the speakers, workshops and other activities. Thank you to all that volunteered and attended. Together we get better!
The retreat was incredible. I will be attending again next year, for sure. Glenwood Springs is a beautiful place and space. Taking the time for this retreat was an amazing way to behave lovingly towards myself. I was able to connect with OA fellows and I heard so many powerful stories. I was able to share and connect; both essential to my recovery. I carry you all in my heart and thoughts! Keep coming back, it works if you work it and you're worth it!
I just love retreats and this one I find very special! I have come for the past 3 years and would not miss it for anything. No cell phones. No computers! Just really good friends working on personal development and becoming better people. Where else can you get up and sing a silly song and do a whole body laugh? Thank you all who worked to put this on. It was a blast!
