Inspiring Abstinence

Western Slope OA Retreat was an inspiring eventOn May 13, 14, and 15 the Second Annual Western Slope Retreat was held near picturesque Glenwood Springs, CO. It was attended by 23 OA’ers from around Colorado.

The theme for the retreat was “Inspiring Abstinence“. We learned that the word inspire means to breathe life into another’s dreams, and that was what we wanted to provide.

We were inspired by workshops on “The Big Book Promises“, “The Gift of Abstinence“, “an overview of the ABC’s“, “the Spiritual Journey” and Step workshops 1-3, 4-9, 10-12.

We were inspired by an incredible key note speaker, Rhonda B., who shared her experience, strength and hope and it was wonderful. We laughed, we cried, and we learned.

As a first time retreat attendee myself, I was amazingly uplifted and inspired by the other people who were there, their journeys, their recovery, and their love. It was one of the most incredible weekends of my life and I sincerely want to thank every single person who attended and shared their life, their experience, their strength and their buckets and buckets full of hope with me over the course of those three days. “Together we get better!”

If you missed it this year, start planning now to attend #3 next year.
