Monthly Speaker’s Meeting
Wednesday June 6th at South Broadway Christian
Denver OA now has a monthly speakers meeting at 7 pm on the first Wednesday of every month, at South Broadway Christian Church.

It is open to friends, family and the public. It provides a safe opportunity for others to experience the wonder of recovery as members share their stories. I experienced that with a newcomer at the November 1st Speaker meeting. The meeting was not only warm and welcoming, but inspiring as well. Prior to sharing her experience, strength and hope, the speaker mentioned how nervous and unsure she felt.  She then told her story with such raw candor. This made it possible for me to feel the hope, and not so uniquely alone. I realized there is no way to convey this to a newcomer. They have to experience it.

This meeting provides the perfect opportunity for a newcomer to recognize that Overeaters Anonymous may possibly be the answer they have been looking for. Thank you to those that saw the need for this meeting and brought it to fruition. Thank you too, to all who choose to “extend the hand” by attending this meeting. Together we get better!
